The Technology

How It Works

Two components. Zero guesswork. Queen found in seconds.

01

The Crown

Micro-chips are placed on the queen at birth by your queen rearer using specially made tweezers. They come pre-coloured in the season colour. The Crown is permanent β€” it will not fall off during the queen's entire lifespan. No maintenance, no replacement.

02

The Locator Box

A briefcase-sized locator you carry to the hive. The chip sends a signal and the exact location of the queen is shown on the box display. 5-year battery life β€” no charging ever required. Waterproof and extremely sturdy. Repairs and maintenance are done by us at no extra cost.

03

Find & Retrieve

Open the hive, pull out the queen from the exact location shown. No searching. No stress. The success rate is 100%, every single time. Learning to use the locator is simple and intuitive β€” any beekeeper can master it in minutes.

Controlled scientific safety studies conducted by the University of Zagreb in Croatia. Studies finalised and pending peer review before publication.

βœ… Verified

No Negative Impact

No radioactivity. No negative physiological or behavioural impact on the queen. No impact on mating, laying, or queen acceptance.

πŸ”¬ 6 years

R&D History

Six years of development and dozens of design iterations β€” developed by a veterinarian specialised in queen bee rearing working alongside an electronics engineer with 40 years of experience.

Compatibility

Works With Your Existing Operation

Designed to slot into your current workflow β€” no disruption, no overhaul.

βœ“

All Hive Types

Compatible with standard and double brood box configurations. Works across all common hive designs.

βœ“

Your Own Queens & Rearers

You continue using your preferred queen rearers. Tags are applied at birth by your rearers β€” we provide full training at no cost.

βœ“

One Box Per Beekeeper

A single hired locator box works across all your company's hives. You only need as many boxes as you have beekeepers in the field.

Easy to Learn

Any beekeeper can master the locator in minutes. Training videos provided. Direct customer support available if needed.

ROI & Productivity

Significant Time and Cost Savings
(and let's not forget the convenience!)

Think about how long it takes you to find one queen × how many hives you manage × how many times per season. The cumulative saving is significant.

⏱

Labour Time

If a beekeeper spends just 5–10 minutes locating a queen, across thousands of hives and multiple inspections per season, the cumulative labour cost becomes substantial. Our technology eliminates that search time entirely.

⚑

Faster Requeening & Splitting

Inspections that previously required experienced eyes and extended hive disturbance now take seconds. Requeening, splitting, and hive assessments become faster, smoother, and less stressful on your colonies.

πŸ‘₯

Staff Productivity

Less experienced staff can confidently manage hives that previously required a senior beekeeper. Scale your operation without scaling your senior headcount proportionally.

Early Adopter Advantage

Why Adopt Early?

Commercial beekeeping is becoming increasingly labour-intensive. Early adopters gain meaningful operational advantages over time.

1

Immediate Operational Efficiency

Gain faster queen location, reduced inspection time, and improved staff productivity across your hives from the very first season.

2

Priority Onboarding

Foundational customers receive priority implementation support, hands-on onboarding assistance, and dedicated rollout attention during the limited 2026 season intake.

3

Introductory Pricing Protection

Lock in introductory pricing and protect your cost structure before the technology scales to broader adoption across the industry.

4

First Access to Future Features

The technology roadmap includes varroa treatment applications β€” early customers will have early access to these developments as they roll out.

β–  Locator boxes
$900 / season, per box

$450 paid on order, then 6 monthly instalments of $75/month (October to March).

We recommend one box per 500 hives (but you can make it more or less if you wish), or one per beekeeper.

Locator boxes are contracted out as hire equipment.

From your second season there's nothing to pay up front β€” the full $900 per box is spread across the 6 monthly instalments ($150/month per box).

β™› Queens to crown
$8.70 / queen

Pay as you crown.

A one-time cost per queen, not annual β€” you only pay for new queens.

You don't buy your season's crowns up front. Order a first batch, then order more as you need them through the season β€” each batch is paid for when you order it.

Founding Beekeeper Program

We're inviting 30 commercial beekeepers to join our initial New Zealand rollout in the 2026/27 season
